Facebook Social Networking Site

Facebook social networking site, with over 200 million users, is currently the most widely used social networking site worldwide. It is free to use and privately owned by Facebook Inc. It was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and fellow students who named the site after the book given to students at their school which gives the names and faces of the students in each faculty. Users must be 13 years or over.

You can use the site to link up with and keep in touch with others you already know or who share common interests. Once you sign up you can join networks relating to location, school, place or work. Increasingly people are using it for business purposes, building relationships online and then using the network to promote their products or services.

Here are just a few things you can use Facebook social networking for

• Post up your profile, including information such as your date of birth, your photograph, likes and dislikes, political views and location. You can choose what you post up and using the privacy settings choose who you share information with.
• Post up photo albums
• Download applications such as games and quizzes which you can then play competing against your friends and other users
• Create your own quizzes
• Post updates on what you are doing right now
• Comment on other users’ posts
• Request to link up with other users
• Send messages and use various instant messaging services
• Create and join groups
• Share videos
